AN ONLINE EVENT PROMOTED BY THE OFFICE FOR ECUMENICAL & INTERFAITH RELATIONS

In 1986, Pope John Paul II gathered Christian and world religious leaders in Assisi to pray for peace, showing that faith communities can unite against violence while respecting their differences.
Forty years later, amid war and polarization, that witness remains urgent.

From October 25 to 27, 2026, Assisi will again welcome religious, cultural, civic, and institutional leaders for Sant’Egidio’s “Unarmed and Disarming Peace” conference. Click programme and participation details to view the different sessions.

His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV will preside at the “Prayer for Peace” service and ceremony that will be broadcast live on the Vatican YouTube channel on October 27 at 9:30 a.m. Toronto time. Click bit.ly/4731dOR to view.
